Joan Marques, PhD, EdD, serves as Dean and Professor of Management at Woodbury University’s School of Business. She holds a PhD from Tilburg University and an Ed.D. from Pepperdine University’s Graduate School of Education and Psychology. She teaches, presents, and writes on Workplace Spirituality, Ethical Leadership, Buddhist Psychology in Management, and Leadership Awareness. In 2015, Joan received the national decoration of Commander in the Honorary Order of the Yellow Star, by the President of the Republic of Suriname, her native country, while she also became the recipient of the Dr. Nelle Becker-Slaton Pathfinder Award, granted by the Association of Pan-African Doctoral Scholars to an academic female leader who has demonstrated groundbreaking leadership in her field. Dr. Marques has been widely published in scholarly as well as practitioner based journals and has authored/co-authored and edited more than 35 books on management and leadership topics. Her most recent book is, “Leading with Awareness” (Routledge, July, 2021).
