This week, Armenian Assembly of America Radio Hour host Mihran Toumajan is pleased to have had two distinguished staff members on Capitol Hill as his guests, during which they discussed the significance of serving for the public good.
Toumajan’s guest for the first half of the program is Ms. Maria Martirosyan, who currently works as a the Legislative Assistant for Rep. Ilhan Omar (MN-05). Ms. Martirosyan’s portfolio of responsibilities includes Agriculture, Energy, Environment, Education, Judiciary, Native American, Natural Resources, Postal Services, and Small Business issues. Prior to joining “Team Omar” in November of 2019, Maria worked for Rep. Jimmy Gomez (CA-34), and interned for the powerful House Committee on Ways and Means, as well as for Rep. Ami Bera (CA-07).
Born in Nikolaev, Ukraine, Maria and her family moved from Tbilisi, Georgia to Los Angeles, California in 1999. After graduating from the University of California, Berkeley as a double major in Political Science and Slavic Languages and Literatures, Ms. Martirosyan moved to Washington, DC to establish a career in public service. In addition to volunteering her time with various organizations, Maria serves as the President of the Congressional Armenian Staff Association (CASA), which is a non-partisan, bicameral Congressional staff organization recognized by the U.S. House Committee on House Administration.
