Six researchers are spending a month living in enclosed quarters, growing their own food, and testing out robotic vehicles — all in an arid corner of southern Armenia. Austrian and Armenian scientists chose the site for its geologic similarities to Mars and hope the test-run of extraterrestrial living conditions will yield valuable knowledge for future missions to the Red Planet.
