De facto authorities in the breakaway region of Nagorno-Karabakh faced criticism for holding elections amid the global coronavirus pandemic. Voters wore face masks as they lined up at polling stations in the city of Stepanakert on March 31 to cast their ballots. Nagorno-Karabakh is a disputed territory within Azerbaijan that was seized by Armenia-backed separatists decades ago.
